To Watermark,
or not to Watermark....?
A watermark is a recognizable image or pattern that is digitally stamped onto an image to discourage counterfeiting. It helps to identify ownership of a photograph. There are pros and cons to using watermarks. Click on the button to the right and read to find out why you should or should not use a watermark. Then we will discuss this with the class.

If you were a professional freelance photographer, what would you name your business? And what would your company logo look like? This design would also be used as your watermark.
For your next [mini] project, you will design and create your very own watermark/logo. Start by answering the questions above. Then, sketch at least 3 thumbnails. They will be due by the end of class today. Please take a pic of your sketches and attach them to the Doc on Google Classroom. We will select your best design and begin creating it on Thursday!
In Photoshop...
New > Document > Background Contents > Transparent > Inches 10 W 10 H
Play with the text tool, colors, and fonts. Add images to your logo. It is highly recommended that you use separate layers when editing. Your final day to edit will be some time next week. You will save your watermark as a PSD doc only. Not JPEG.
Then, you will follow steps in class to watermark one of your photos.
Open one of your photographs (JPEG) from any previous project.
Open your PSD watermark doc.
SELECT > EDIT > COPY MERGED
Return to your photograph and EDIT > PASTE
You will need to resize your watermark and place it somewhere on your photograph so that it is noticeable yet not distracting.
SAVE AS > Your Name and WATERMARK > JPEG
Email Miss Qureshi your watermarked JPEG image.
