Students, you are to open Adobe Photoshop 2018 on your computers and experiment with the tools. If you want to start from scratch, you will need to go to File > New, and create a new document before you can use the tools OR simply open an existing image on the computer by selecting File > Open > Pictures, and select one. To find out what each tool does, click the gray button below labeled "Click Here" OR use the printout that you received. After you played around with Photoshop, you are going to send me an email with the subject line saying "Photoshop First Try", and tell me how it went. Use full sentences to tell me 2 things you learned how to do (that is not explained in the link you visited [the button]) and 2 difficulties you had.

Yesterday, you attempted to figure out how some of the tool work on Photoshop. Today, you will click the orange button below and follow the steps to create an artwork in Adobe Photoshop WITHOUT help from your instructor. Anything you are unable to figure out, please search for the answer on Google, or ask someone in the class. The point of digital courses is for you to become a self-learner and find answers without relying on other people. I will train you to use Photoshop formally next week, but for now, I want to see that you were able to learn some of the basics on your own.

Above is an example of what your project will look like.
Use your guide so you know which tools to use for each function.
Criteria for your LETTER ART photo project...
1. You photographed abstract images that resemble letters
(5-8 letters of any word you chose). Make sure you download each one to the COMPUTER (from your email).
2. You created a New document (File > New) in Photoshop titled "YourNameLETTERART" and the image is 10 inches width, 5 inches height, background contents - black.
3. In Photoshop, you have edited your letter images so that they are
Black and White and the Contrast is high. (Image > Adjustments > Black and white. Then Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast)
4. You cropped, selected, and copied/pasted each of your letter photos into the LETTERART document on Photoshop.
5. Use the move tool (make sure "show transformation controls" is selected at the top) to resize your letter photos. While doing this, be sure to keep the SHIFT key pressed on your keyboard so that you do not distort the image while re-sizing.
6. Each letter image must be approximately the same size.
7. Also, there should be a black frame around all of your letter photos (leave equal amounts of space around and between each of the images).
There are 3 different ways to save your work depending on what you would like to do with your project, follow these instructions carefully:
