One definition of fine art is "a visual art considered to have been created primarily for aesthetic and intellectual purposes and judged for its beauty and meaningfulness. What is Fine Art Photography? Fine art photography is photography created in accordance with the vision of the artist as photographer. It is a byproduct and it has also been important in advancing certain causes. It is conceptual. |

Your Project
You will choose a "theme word" or CONCEPT and you will have to set up a shot so that your photograph portrays that theme. Choose your lighting, color, model posture, and composition carefully. Use props and set design to your advantage.

This might help you in setting up the scene. Consider simplistic ways to portray your concept without necessarily

To the right are 4 pictures from a series of 13 photographs taken by Miss Qureshi. The title and concept of the series is "Feminine Nature". Take note of the composition set up, lighting, color scheme, wardrobe, body language, etc. Why does it represent femininity? Where does nature come in? What is the meaning?

Steps For Your Project:
Step 1: Choose theme and photograph
Step 2: Edit your image in photoshop as needed. Save it as a JPEG.
Step 3: You will need to type an artist statement. (Examples can be found HERE). Attach your JPEG to an email and type your statement into the same email. It must be in full sentences and include:
Title of your image in quotations, explain what we see in the photograph, why you chose the attire/lighting/location/model that you did, what is the message and how did you convey that message. Minimum 4 sentences.
Step 4: In your email, put in the subject line "Fine Art Photography Project" and email it to [email protected]
Step 5: You're finished! You must submit your project no later than TBD. We will critique our projects Monday in class.

Step One: Open all 3 of your images in Adobe Photoshop.
Step Two: File > New > Title Document "Your Concept and Your Name" > Change measurements to inches. If you want option 1 then the Width is 15 and the Height is 8, option 2 has a Width of 8 and a Height of 15 > Resolution 300 > Background Contents, select Background Color then choose Black.
Step Three: You are going to copy and paste each of your images INTO this new document. Go to each image, use the selection tool to select > copy, then open your new doc and Edit > paste. Use the move tool to position the picture where you want it. Do this with all 3 images.
Step Four: Use the crop tool to crop your image. Make sure there is a black frame that is equal on all sides.
Step Five: File > Save As > Save to your jump drive as a JPEG.
Step Six: Upload to an email and send to [email protected]
